Youth & New Shooter Pheasant Hunt
October 26 @ 8:00 am - 1:30 pm
FreeThe Redwood County Pheasants Forever board is excited to host another Youth Pheasant Hunt this year! Join us on Saturday, October 26th at 8am at Runnings in Redwood Falls, MN.
Who is the hunt for?
This hunt is available, free of charge, to not only the youth of our area but also new adult hunters. We want others to be able to experience the joys of the great outdoors and get a chance to see what hunting pheasants is all about.
This pheasant hunt is open to all youth ages 12-17 that have a valid Hunters Safety Certification. An adult partner is NOT required.
We also have the option of a one on one hunt for youth under 12 years of age with no hunter’s safety certificate.
How does the hunt work?
The particpants will hunt in a group with some of our seasoned board members and volunteers. We will meet at Runnings in Redwood Falls, MN to start our day. There, we will have registration, go through safety rules and give the participants an overview of our day.
We will hunt on private land (courtesy of a generous land owner – a big thank you to Bob Wetmore for allowing us to hunt on your land) in the morning and head over to the Redwood Sportsmen’s Club afterwards. Lunch will be provided at Pizza Ranch in Redwood Falls for all participants courtesy of Redwood County Pheasants Forever. We will also have Trap Shooting available for participants with shells and fees covered by Redwood County Pheasants Forever.
Required Equipment
Dress in your hunting gear! We will hunt rain or shine.
Minnesota pheasant hunters are required to wear at least one visible article of clothing above the waist that is blaze orange. This could be a hat, jacket or hunting vest. Remember that more blaze orange will make you more visible to other hunters. Learn more about gear for pheasant hunting on the MN DNR website.
Bring a shotgun and shells! If you don’t have one, let us know and we’ll see what we can do!
How to Register
Register online here, free of charge or by phone by Thursday, October 24th!
