Our Annual Coyote Hunt took place January 24–26, and what a weekend it was! Hosted by Redwood County Pheasants Forever, this year's event brought together 29 hunters who spent the weekend scouting, calling, and covering ground in pursuit of predators.
By the end of the hunt, teams had successfully harvested 46 coyotes, a testament to the dedication and teamwork that defines this event year after year. The energy was high, the stories were plentiful, and the camaraderie was unmatched.
A special shout-out goes to this year’s winning team: Waknitz/Mathiowetz—well done! Whether you brought home a win or just a good story, we’re incredibly grateful for everyone who joined us and made the event such a success.

A Purpose-Driven Minnesota Coyote Hunt Event
This Coyote Hunt wasn’t just about competition—it was about conservation with intention. Predator management is a crucial part of supporting healthy upland bird populations, and events like this are an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to local habitat efforts.
As always, we encouraged responsible sportsmanship and followed all MN DNR regulations. It’s our goal to lead by example and ensure every hunt reflects the values of stewardship, ethics, and community.

Coyote Hunt Highlights: Competition, Camaraderie & Cash Prizes
The hunt kicked off on Friday at 6:00 PM from the Roadhouse Bar & Grill in Wabasso. Teams of up to four hunters spread out across the countryside with one shared goal: participate in a responsible hunt, return with their harvest, and celebrate together.
Sunday’s check-in was held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. All coyotes were required to be onsite by noon. Hunters then gathered for a warm meal and awards ceremony, where prizes were given for:
- Most Coyotes
- Hard Luck Award
Laughter, storytelling, and a shared appreciation for the outdoors made this more than just a prize ceremony—it was a celebration of our shared values and mission.
More Than a Hunt—It’s About Bringing People Together
Events like this do more than support conservation efforts—they bring people together. Around tables, at check-in stations, and during the awards meal, stories were swapped, friendships were strengthened, and future plans were made.
We believe that these connections are just as important as the hunt itself. At Redwood County Pheasants Forever, we’re proud to foster spaces where outdoorsmen and women—both new and experienced—can learn from one another, support ethical practices, and celebrate a shared love for the land.
Thank You for Supporting Local Conservation
