Eight participants, new experiences, and a shared appreciation for the outdoors made this year's Youth & New Shooter Pheasant Hunt a success!
Redwood County Pheasants Forever welcomed eight participants to its annual Youth & New Shooter Pheasant Hunt on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The event provided an opportunity for young and beginning hunters to gain experience, build confidence, and connect with others who share an interest in the outdoors.
For four of the eight participants, this was their very first hunting experience, making the day an especially meaningful introduction to a tradition that brings generations together.
More Than Just a Day in the Field
At Redwood County Pheasants Forever, introducing new hunters to the outdoors is an important part of our mission. Events like the Youth & New Shooter Pheasant Hunt help make hunting more accessible while encouraging safe, responsible participation and an appreciation for wildlife and habitat conservation.
Whether participants were experiencing their first hunt or continuing to develop their skills, the day offered an opportunity to learn, connect, and create memories in the field.
Following the hunt, participants gathered for a meal at Pizza Ranch, giving everyone a chance to share stories and reflect on their experiences.
The day didn't end there for everyone! About half of the participants continued the experience with clay shooting at the Redwood Sportsmen's Club, providing another opportunity to practice their shooting skills and enjoy time together.
Investing in the Future of Hunting and Conservation
The success of this year's hunt goes beyond the number of participants. With half of the group experiencing hunting for the first time, the event reflects the importance of creating welcoming opportunities for the next generation of hunters.
Each new experience in the field can help build a lasting connection to the outdoors. By introducing youth and new shooters to hunting, we also have an opportunity to share the importance of conservation, habitat stewardship, and preserving our outdoor traditions.
Redwood County Pheasants Forever extends a sincere thank-you to the volunteers, organizers, and supporters who helped make this year's hunt possible. Their dedication continues to create meaningful opportunities for new hunters in our community.
We look forward to seeing these hunters continue their journeys in the field and welcoming more new faces in the years ahead!
